Sally Blackman, Manager Health and Nutrition, Canadian Produce Marketing Assocation (CPMA)
Sally has been working with CPMA since July 2005. She provides package and nutrition information and performs label reviews for CPMA members. Sally also represents CPMA on the Organic agriculture technical committee, on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Partnership for Consumer Food Safety Education, participates in the Network on Healthy Eating, and works on other files related to Health and Nutrition. Sally has a Diploma of Medical Laboratory Technology from Dawson College, Montreal Quebec and was Certified by the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technology CSLT (now called CMSLS). She also holds an Associate Diploma of Food, Nutrition and Risk Management from the University of Guelph, Kemptville College, Kemptville, Ontario.
Aruna Spears, Senior Director, Quality Assurance, Produce, Loblaw Companies Limited
Aruna Spears has worked in a variety of roles within the food industry (quality assurance, marketing, product development and operations) in companies such as Maple Leaf Mills, Canada Bread and Griffith Laboratories. She has been with Loblaw Companies Ltd. since January 2008 and is the Senior Director, Quality Assurance, for the Produce Business Unit.
Rose
Medaglia, National Manager, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Fresh Fruit and Vegetables
Rose Medaglia joined the Agrifood Division, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Section of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) effective December 15, 2009. During her career in the federal public service at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and then the CFIA, Rose held other positions within the Policy and Programs Branch and Science Branch and has worked on a number of files and projects, including food microbiology, nutrition and health claims, laboratory testing and accreditation, quality system auditing, quality assurance program implementation, ISO standards auditing, training initiatives and food emergency response. Under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program, Rose delivered information sessions on quality assurance systems and laboratory testing. She also enjoyed work in molecular genetics in her previous work with Canadian Forestry Services. Rose was born in Sault Ste. Marie, ON and holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Biotechnology from Carleton University.
