Repacking & Wholesale Food Safety Program
The CPMA Repacking & Wholesale Food Safety Program (RWFSP) is a national, HACCP-based, industry led, auditable food safety program designed specifically for businesses that are involved in the repacking or wholesale of domestic and imported fresh fruits and vegetables.
CPMA has developed the Repacking and Wholesale Food Safety Standard and HACCP Generic Model to aid members in the implementation of the program. CPMA members have unlimited access to related workbooks, Record Templates and an online interactive RWFS training program by signing into myCPMA.ca, our members-only zone. Non-members can register for the RWFSP though non-members fees would apply.

CanadaGap & RWFSP Integration Initiative
In 2009, the Canadian Horticultural Council (CHC) and Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) began discussions regarding the potential for integrated delivery of CanadaGAP and the CPMA Repacking and Wholesale Food Safety Program (RWFSP). With funding assistance from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, a formal study was undertaken in 2010 to examine the feasibility of this joint venture. The study concluded that it was, in fact, a feasible initiative and work began. Work on this initiative will continue through 2012-13.
Background information and an update on the progress of the CanadaGAP /CPMA Repacking and Wholesale Food Safety Program Integration Initiative can be found on the Canadian Horticultural Council (CHC) website.
Technical Review of the Repack & Wholesale Food Safety Program
CPMA and an industry advisory team are working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to execute a Technical Review of the Repack & Wholesale Food Safety Program (RWFSP). This process supports the efforts of CPMA and CHC (Canadian Horticultural Council) as we move forward with the integration efforts to integrate CanadaGAP and RWFSP into one delivery/program. CFIA’s Post Farm Food Safety Recognition Program Technical Review Part I is a new focus for CFIA and the RWFSP will be the first program to complete the Review.
During this process, revisions and updates may be applied to the RWFSP program, including to the on-line tool and the workbooks. CPMA will provide notification of these changes and include them in the RWFSP program portal at myCPMA.ca.
CPMA Members should log in to myCPMA.ca to access the RWFS Training Program and associated documents. Non-members can contact Sally Blackman to register for the RWFSP and/or contact Lyse McClelland for more information about becoming a member of CPMA.
